SUMMARY:Circle of Friends Walk to Support: Children's Advocacy Center
DESCRIPTION:Children’s Advocacy Center\nCollier Children’s Advocacy Center (Collier CAC) is Collier County’s first line of defense for children who may have experienced abuse. As an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit\, Collier CAC unites medical\, forensic\, therapeutic\, advocacy\, parenting‑support\, and child‑protection teams under one umbrella so each child tells their story once\, receives expert care immediately\, and begins healing in a safe\, child-centered setting. \nFor almost four decades\, Collier CAC has championed robust\, gap-free safety nets for every child in our community. Last year alone 1\,400 children and family members relied on these services; 282 forensic medical exams preserved critical evidence\, and the Collier CAC team’s gold‑standard interviewing helped secure an 87 % conviction rate when cases went to trial. All care was delivered free of charge\, saving vulnerable families on average up to $3\,400 per case and ensuring every child\, regardless of circumstance\, could find safety\, healing\, and hope. \nFunds raised this season will: \n\nConduct 282 rapid\, trauma-informed medical examinations that detect injuries early\, strengthen prosecutions\, and reassure each child that they are safe and their body is okay.\nDeliver evidence-based therapy and long-term advocacy to 737 children\, guiding them from crisis to courtroom—from victim to survivor—and ultimately back to healthy thriving children.\nProvide parenting education that breaks intergenerational cycles of abuse.\nReunify all programs in a single\, child-friendly facility—part of our $7.2 million “Lifting Up. Building Strength” fundraising initiative aimed to improve care continuity and increase service capacity.\nLaunch county-wide awareness initiatives so every resident knows “abuse happens here—and help starts here.”\n\nWith Bryan Lee\nIntroduction by Dr. Pia Myers Wolfe

SUMMARY:Circle of Friends Walk to Support: Weekend Meals by UUCGN
DESCRIPTION:Weekend Meals\nWeekend Meals is a volunteer-driven program dedicated to providing six nutritious meals to food-insecure children on weekends. The program is run by the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Greater Naples. \nAccording to Missy Cowan\, the chairperson of the Weekend Meals program: \nIn addition to selecting foods that are non-perishable\, we also make it a priority to provide single serving foods that can easily be opened and prepared by the children since\, as we have learned\, parental supervision is not always available. We currently serve five partner elementary schools in Collier County. \nI have had the privilege of serving as chairperson of the Weekend Meals program since 2018. During that time\, the program has grown from supporting 45 children at 3 schools to providing weekend meals to 175 children across 5 schools. The need continues to increase\, and our ability to serve more children is directly tied to the level of donations we receive each year. \nTo support and expand this vital work\, Weekend Meals has the following goals: \n\nRaise awareness about childhood food insecurity in Collier County\nEncourage donations to sustain and grow the Weekend Meals program\n\nWith Missy Cowan  \nIntroduction by Sandy Cunningham
